Is the Nikon D5600 Worth Buying?

Earning 4.8 stars out of 5 stars on Nikon’s website, the Nikon D5600 seems like your next go-to camera on paper, especially with all the Lenses for Nikon d5600. But is the Nikon D5600 worth buying? Taking a look at what the D5600 replaces along with how long the camera will last you and if Nikon will still continue the series, we’re breaking down if upgrading is worth it.

What replaced the Nikon D5600?

Many loyal Nikon users have upgraded to the D5600 from previous Nikon cameras such as the D3100 and the D7100, no new models have replaced the D5600–yet. While the D500 and the D7500 are the prime (and most expensive) DSLRs that Nikon offers, the D5600 still remains the most popular.

With a great price point for a DSLR and features like Bluetooth and being able to connect to your smartphone wirelessly, the D5600 is a fan favorite.

However, Nikon has a vision for the future, and it might not include one of their most popular cameras…

Is the Nikon D5600 being discontinued?

As of last year, Nikon Japan has labeled the D5XXX and the D3XXX series as “old products”. Even though the D5600 and the D3500 are some of the best DSLR cameras for beginners, Nikon is looking to introduce photographers to their new Nikon Z Mirrorless APS-C cameras.

While the Nikon Z50 has been labeled as one of the best mirrorless cameras, the price might stop you from clicking that “buy” button. At nearly $200 more than the D5600, the Z50 isn’t winning any affordability prizes.

While there is currently no official confirmation from Nikon that the D5600 will be discontinued, it is worth noting that Nikon has no official replacement for the D5600.

How old is the Nikon D5600?

The Nikon D5600 was announced by Nikon on November 10, 2016, and has been on the market since early 2017. With its compact and functional design, the D5600 manages to still be the optimal camera for traveling and everyday photoshoots. Even five years after its initial launch, the Nikon D5600 is one of the most popular DSLRs worldwide.

With excellent image quality–even in low light, vibrant colors, incredible battery life, and easy-to-use settings, the D5600 has just about everything. The only downside is the camera does not shoot in 4k. But if you’re not a videographer or filmmaker, that shouldn’t be an issue, because the D5600 still shoots beautifully in 1080p.

Is Nikon D5600 worth buying? If you are a beginner at photography and DSLR cameras, this camera is the perfect place to start.

The Nikon D5600 hasn’t been replaced yet, although it has replaced older models of Nikon cameras and has become a fan favorite for years. With so many camera enthusiasts loving this model, Nikon might not discontinue the D5600 any time soon.

With easy-to-use settings, good battery life, and clear photos, the D5600 is worth it–even if you have been at the photography game for a while, this camera won’t let you down.
